Crooked River Swissy Club Hosts the
2008 SWISSathlon

Are you up for the challenge? Can your Swissy compete in all three working events offered during the weekend of October 3rd, 4th, and 5th, 2008?

The Crooked River Swissy Club is hosting a Working Dogs Weekend Extravaganza in northeast Ohio. We’re offering events you won’t want to miss!

The weekend affords your dog the opportunity to earn two legs towards a GSMDCA pack dog title and weight pull title, as well as a novice or open draft title.

Entry Fees

Pack Dog:    $20.00 per dog if entering just one pack dog hike (to earn one leg)    
                        $30.00 per dog if entering both pack dog hikes (to earn two legs)

Lodging Fees

Incredibly reasonable!!!  $25.00 per household for the weekend whether sleeping inside the cabin, pitching a tent, or parking an RV.

Food

  • Breakfasts Saturday and Sunday: The Crooked River Swissy Club will provide (free of charge) doughnuts, muffins, and fresh fruit at the Brooklyn Exchange Cabin for your morning appetites. We will also have coffee brewing in a 30 cup coffee maker.

  • Lunch Saturday:A deli meat and cheese tray, along with condiments and sandwich bread will be available to “make your own sandwich.” Fresh fruit and chips will also be available. Cost is $7.50 per person. If you would like to take advantage of the “make your own sandwich”lunch, please check the appropriate boxes on the “Events Summary and Sign Up Page.”Don’t forget to include the amount of lunch in your payment check for the weekend.

  • Lunch Sunday: Will be “on your own”following the pack dog hike. If we have any leftovers from Saturday, every one is welcome to partake.

  • Dinner Friday: Following the Pack Dog Hike Friday, we will begin the Friday evening weight pull competition about 6:00 PM. Dinner Friday will be “on your own.”Some may want to dine at one of the restaurants in the village of Peninsula (near the pack dog hike conclusion). There is also a restaurant, “Memories,”on Brecksville Road near the TheQuality Inn. And, The Quality Inn has a restaurant and lounge, as well. If some people want to order pizza, we can bring in pizza, as well.

  • Dinner Saturday: The Crooked River Swissy Club is hosting a cook out at the site of the Brooklyn Exchange Cabin. We hope everyone will want to dine with us. The tentative menu features the following:


    •APPETIZERS -Assorted
    •MAIN ENTREES -Grilled Salmon; Grilled Italian Sausage; Meatless Pasta with Red Sauce
    •SALAD –Tossed Green Salads with Your Choice of Dressing
    •SIDE DISHES –Green Beans and Loaves of Crusty Bread
    •DESSERTS –Assorted

    Cost for barbecue: $20.00 per adult and $12.00 per child under 12 years of age. If you are going to dine with us Saturday evening, please check the appropriate box on the “Events Summary and Sign Up Page.”Don’t forget to include the amount of your dinner(s) in your payment check.
